Procurement Unit (part of Finance and Resources Department) has the responsibility for overseeing all procurement activity on behalf of Cumbria Police Authority, and to provide the necessary framework to ensure a professional procurement service is adopted and integrated within the Force.
The rules and regulations that govern Cumbria Police Authority’s procurement activity are those determined by European, UK law, and are set out in the: Authority’s Standing Orders Relating to Contracts.
The Procurement Unit works closely with police forces within the Police North West Region, and together they have developed the Police Procurement North West (PPNW) Portal. The portal is a newly developed facility to assist both prospective and established suppliers in tendering for Goods, Works and Services to the 6 Police Forces who form the Police North West Region.
The aim of the PPNW Portal is to provide an overview of the North West Police Force's Procurement Policies, Procedures, and to let suppliers know how to do business with our forces and to give suppliers the ability to view current and future contract opportunities. In providing the above link, Cumbria Police Authority aims to meet the Freedom of Information Act Police Service Publication Scheme that requires authorities to publish certain details, including What We Spend and How We Spend It. However, exemptions under the Freedom of Information Act will prevent some information from being released.
